Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. this one is on a CD in my car....Deep Purple...Perfect Strangers...GREAT SONG...one of my preferred DP songs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMfAu72qma0

Glad to see those dionsaurs are still around... and having fun! Sure made my days in the early 70s! My favorite at that time (song only starts at 1:40 but the whole vid is worth looking at - compare the faces, what time does to us all! -, I bet FacMan will have a sudden backflash... Grijns):

And, you can check your vocal abilities in the Karaoke version also (if you cannot sing the whole Na-na bit with one air you should consider seeing your pneumologist Tong):

And while I am at it:

My current favorite Spanish (funky) Rock Band, Santi Latorre. No lyrics on the web and I am looking still for my top song from them "Va" (or "No va"?), if you know it or come across it please let me know...

4 vids, all great lyrics (though you will need to understand Spanish to get the beauty), one badass guitar solo in each that combines well with the funky rhythm guitar, and nicely arranged:

First one "Y que" ("And so what?"): "Si tu estas solo delante del peligro y el peligro te lo dictan, y que? Tu decides siempre, amigo, tu futuro y tu camino! ("If you are alone in front of peril, and they dictate which peril, so what? You decide *always*, my friend, your future and your ways!")

2nd one about what we all suffer when facing beaurocracy: "No te vas a escapar" ("You won´t escape it"), the pics explain it sufficiently, no lyrics needed: "El siguiente!" ("Next one!") & "Relax a little, please..."

3rd one sees Santi flirting in a bar with the waitress who is obvilusly from the south, Andalusia (some fine flamenco elements integrated with the funky rock/rap), as she rebuffs him with the classic southern "Anda ya!" ("Stuff it"):

The last one is universal, especially now in time of crisis: "Dame pasta!" ("give me some dough!"), the grooviest and rappiest piece:

Sisters of Mercy are known for their fast songs but I prefer their slow songs. Very slow, very deep and very dark.

Website

Their drummer is called Doctor Avalanche, he's always been a computer....

Just checked this entry only today looking for inspiration, and I like their fast ones (today I am in the mood Huh? : A friend died yesterday at 1320J at 49 and I *hate* to go to the funeral Monday but I know she would love this as the music at her coffin when everybody takes a sip of the Dead Mans (Girls) Whiskey...)

(Just to make it clear to people who are not familiar with the forum here, this is a sequel to the post before, not trying to impersonate two people where techadmin and myself are one, just with a different hat on... I felt I should post as Rattler from here on as this is personal...)

Maria,

I got a hunch you would have loved this one, exactly your dance and life speed:

But whenever I feel *really* bad - as today - I resort to trusted Tom Waits who makes you feel even worse when you are heart aching - and hence makes the pain go away faster - so I feel I dedicate those to you as you also liked his tunes...

The Piano Has Been Drinking (some laugh in the bg, just ignore them as you always did)!

In a way, you were positively innocent from my POV...

... but God Was Away on Business When You Need Him:

Quote
I'd sell your heart to the junk-man baby for a buck, for a buck!
If you're looking for someone To pull you out of that ditch You're out of luck, you're out of luck
The ship is sinking, the ship is sinking, the ship is sinking
There's a leak, there's a leak In the boiler room,
The poor, the lame, the blind
Who are the ones left in charge?
Killers, thieves and Lawyers
God's away, God's away, God's away
On Business. Business.
God's away, God's away, God's away
On Business. Business.

Digging up the dead with A shovel and a pick It's a job, it's a job
Bloody moon rising with A plague and a flood Join the mob, join the mob
It's all over, it's all over, it's all over
There's a leak, there's a leak, In the boiler room
The poor, the lame, the blind
Who are the ones that we kept in charge?
Killers, thieves, and lawyers
God's away, God's away, God's away
On Business. Business.
God's away, God's away,
On Business. Business.

Goddamn ther's always such A big temptation To be good, To be good
Tere's always free cheddar in A mousetrap, baby It's a deal, it's a deal
God's away, God's away, God's away
On Business. Business.
God's away, God's away, God's away
On Business. Business.
I narrow my eyes like a coin slot baby,
Let her ring, let her ring
God's away, God's away,
God's away on Business.
Business...

R.I.P and keep the place warm (or cold, depending)!

this one is for you and your friend, may she find peace

Sisters of Mercy - Marian

In a sea of faces, in a sea of doubt
In this cruel place your voice above the maelstrom
In the wake of this ship of fools I'm falling further down
If you can see me, Marian, reach out and take me home.....

CHORUS
I hear you calling Marian
Across the water, across the wave
I hear you calling Marian
Can you hear me calling you to
Save me, save me, save me from the
Grave...
Marian

Marian, there's a weight above me
And the pressure is all too strong
To breathe deep
Breathe long and hard
To take the water down and go to sleep
To sink still further
Beneath the fatal wave
Marian I think I'm drowning
This sea is killing me

CHORUS

Was ich kann und was ich könnte
(What I can do and what I could do)
Weiss ich gar nicht mehr
(I just don't know anymore)
Gib mir wieder etwas schönes
(Give me something beautiful again)
Zieh mich aus dem Meer
(Drag me from the sea)
Ich höre dich rufen, Marian
(I hear you calling Marian)
Kannst du mich schreien hören
(Can you hear me screaming?)
Ich bin hier allein
(I am here alone)
Ich höre dich rufen, Marian
(I hear you calling Marian)
Ohne deine hilfe verliere ich mich in diesem Ort
(Without your help I am lost in this place)

CHORUS
[repeat Marian til end]

Probably my all time favorite song by 'The Boys'...

not as polished

Street Musician version

My favorite cover of this song, was done by "Jane's Addiction", but I have been unable to locate that version. It was on a CD of covers done by various artists.

This song is dedicated to Koen, in the hope that when next he must deal with his 'boss', he will remember these words...

Koen sez:
Quote
often used in Vietnam movies

Because it was the unofficial anthem for most of the Viet Vets I served with, and many of those I have met since. I believe it was played multiple times a day on AFVN . If in a rear area, one could hear the GIs singing along, from the different bivouacs across the base.
Still sends a chill up my spine...

Santana - Black Magic Woman

one of the artists I got to know about due to the fact that my brothers are way older then, 1 is 15 years older and the other one 8 years...this gave me at a very young age LP's as a heritage from groups/artists like Santana...Van Halen...Shadows...E,W&F...etc

Europe...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh...wait a minute...Youtube....

Santana - Europe

man....what is it with this song? is this a lovesong? a sad song? what?

oh...by the way...some 10 years ago one of my brothers asked me to return the LP's...yeah...right... Rollende ogen Rollende ogen Rollende ogen
