Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. Are you sure about this information?
Operation Hubertus : 1943 - German anti-partisan operation in Pindus Mountains region of Greece

Everything I have seen lists Hubertus as the last push to clear the Russians from Stalingrad 9 to 12 November 1942 and that the anti-partisan operation in Greece was operation Humboldt.

Often there are more than one instance where different operations have the same name. Here is yet another Operation Hubertus; this one inside Stalingrad.

But in answer to your original question, no, the information here was gathered from several sources but any one of those could be wrong. Making the entry here incorrect.

Good Hunting.

As you can see from the operations of the schwere Panzer-Abteilung 501 they claim to have taken part in Operation Hubertus as well but on March 12 1944

There appears to be a great deal of confusion on the net about Operations Humboldt and Hubertus, I agree that there could have been several "Hubertus"'s but it seems like an unusual way of assigning operation names if there was.

Hello Paul Brede lach; your question hooked me and after a while I've found (in my PC) another operation in Russia Nov 1942 called "Hubertus"; this was the last offensive efforts of the German 6th Army to conquer Stalingrad between 11th and 19th November 1942. I've found it here "Operation Hubertus – Ljudnikows Last Stand in Stalingrad. By Wolf Höpper http://www.battlefront.co.nz/Article.asp?SectionID=2 (off line).

Although those guys (from sPzAbt 501) in the picture did not take part of it.........but it could be here Unternehmen "Hubertus" on 12.03.1944 at Wospinzy, in Russian Huh?Huh??? Osipenki (45 kms southeast of Witebsk), there fought the 256 ID, one of the kampfgruppe of the AA 256 was reinforced with Tigers of s.H.Pz-Abt. 501 and assault guns (Sturmgeschuetzen) of Stu.Gesch. Brig. 281. More in Barbara Selz: Das Grüne Regiment, Verlag Otto Kehrer KG, Freiburg im Breisgau 1970, Seite 180. Cheers. Raúl M

Operational names could and often were local nomenclatures. So, 6th Army could have used the name at Stalingrad in 1942 AND Army Group North in 1944 and Army Group South in 1945. I know of multiple occasions where the same name was used.

In some cases the operational names were used by different branches of the service, such as a Luftwaffe and a Wehrmacht operation both with the same name.

Good Hunting.

Ok maybe I have gone about this the wrong way...

What I perhaps should have suggested is that the original post be amended to include the new "operation Hubertus"'s?
