Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. I'm researching Ops of the 3rd Pz Div.  My two main soruces both indicate that the III Bn of Pz Rgt 6 was not filled (had been used to build up 5th Light I think).  but going through Hitlers Commanders - MOdel by Steven Newton, he indicates that the II Bn/ 6th Pz Rgt was used to form part of Kampfgruppe Kleemann before the Starry-Bykhov crossing of the Dneiper.

Any suggestions on reconciling this?

Thanks

What dates are you looking for? I think we need to start there. I have some sources that could help but not without a starting and preferably an ending date.

Here is a site supplied by Aufkarung in another thread....

Citadel and Beyond.....July 1943 and later

Good Hunting.

MR,

Of course the dates are needed - thats what happens when I rush.  I'm actually researching june through Dec 1941.  The specific dates that I'm referring to are actually 8th, 9th, and 10th of July, 1941.

Thanks, I'll check out that site as well.

(I'm working on a campaign for Panzer Command:Kharkov.  Still in research phase, though I had thought I had the OOB done.  I've got the entire division in a PCK "battle" file - though I'll only be able to use a few Bn probably.

Thanks

Doing more follow-up - It looks like there was a exhaustive Unit History of the 3rd Pz Div written by Gunther Richter - but it's only in German.

I also see there was a unit history for the 6th Pzner Rgt by Munzel (A Munzel commanded the Rgt after Lewinski was wounded in Sept, 1941).

In any event - I could get lost in research if I'm not careful - My local library doesn't have a copy of Jentz's Panzer Truppen - but I might find one elsewhere.  In mean time I'll stick with my copy of Nafzigers Panzer OOB's.

I've still got a few more references to go through yet (including Guderians Panzer Leader).

Thanks
Rick
