Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. Ahmed Ghailani trial in the U.S.

Ahmed Ghailani was flown over from Guantanamo to New York for the first test for the Obama government.

Ahmed, 35 or 39 years old depending sources, has been charged for his part in the bombing of the US embassies of Tanzania and Kenia in 1998.
Deathtol of these bombings was 224 deaths, amongst them were 12 US citizens. Ghailani was arrested in Pakistan in 2004 and flown to Guantanamo in 2006. On the day of his arrest he was no. 8 on the 'Most Wanted' list of the FBI.
(present FBI list: http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/terrorists/fugitives.htm)
He was one of fourteen prisoners flown in from secret CIA prisons.

Charges are:
murder
attacking civilians
conspiracy
supplying material

In detail he's accused of buying and delivering the truck that exploded at the embassy of Dar es Salaam. The truck was loaded with oxygene and propane tanks which Ghailani also bought and delivered.

March 2007 he acknowledged that he bought the parts but that he didn't know where they were going to be used for.
He also said that he did visit an Al Qaida camp but as a visitor and that he was not a Al Qaida member.

This trail is very important for president Obama since he promised the closure of Guantanamo prison before the end of the year and also that the accused would see trial on American soil.

The money needed for the closure of Guantanamo prison was not approved by the Congress. The Democrats, Obamas political partners, said that they wanted to see the plans for the closure before they would give the money to their president.
