Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. At Bergen Hohne shooting range near the small hamlet of Oerbke was a Russian POW camp.
Russian soldiers were held prisoned here in this camp which was only a large field with a fence around it.
No houses, prisoners had to dig holes to get any shelter.

When the last Russians were gone this camp was used among others in the area to "house" Italian prisoners of war.
Over 50.000 Russian prisoners were buried at Bergen.
The graves are the small square fields with the heath planted on top.
Interesting were the little bricks with the names of known Russian soldiers, these are all made by German scholars.
When you follow the Panzerringstrasse you will find a sign along the road directing you to the memorial site.
