a must-see shocking docu... it makes you think about what 'human' means, what 'humane' means... it makes you ashamed that you're the same species as the ones shown in this docu

Carlito's Way: Rise to Power

IMDB

score: crap  :'(

THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL 'Carlito's Way'!!!!

It's a prelude which I bought in a duo-metal package with the original one included.

I won't waste more words/time on this disaster  reddevil

Memoirs of a Geisha

IMDB

Official website

7/10

good movie but not what I expected, I would've liked to see more insight, reality...I now got the feeling it was too short, too flat...

and as many others I agree that the movie would've been nicer spoken in Japanese

also starring the beautiful Gong Li

VERY GOOD MOVIE

8.75/10

one of the best I've seen lately...

a view on terrorism through the eyes of an innocent accused, the terrorist, the anti-terrorist agencies, families and more...

very good personal performances by the actors
impressive story

The Reading Room

IMDB

nice TV afternoon movie

A man opens up a 'reading room' house in a mixed neighbourhood in the US as his wifes last wish.
Slowly but steadily kids start showing up and after several setbacks the room becomes a 'light' in the neighbourhood.

it's a bit mellow but still quite up-to-date, even in 2009.

for me it's quite personal, I've always been interested in giving my life a 'cause', a 'goal' and not this life with going to work and live the 'regular' life...

The Last King Of Scotland trailer

Terrific acting Forest Whitaker who portrayes very well a sick and mad dictator!
His swingmoods are very well acted by Whitaker, I'm sure his co-actor didn't need to imagine how 'to be afraid' felt.

Quote
Eve's an ambulance driver with the capacity to save lives even after her co-workers have given up. All this is about to change following a gruesome accident on the job that literally leaves her speechless, though the doctor claims her vocal chords weren't damaged and her condition therefore must be psychosomatic. A year later, Eve has just barely evolved towards a severe stutter, deeply frustrating Damien who can apparently no longer get through to her, sending him into the loving embrace of Léa (Micheline Goethals), beer supplier to his bar. Memories of the accident continue to paralyze Eve who has withdrawn into a steel-barred cage of stifling lethargy, her single activity now being her incompetent "helping out" at the bar. When she learns of Damien's infidelity and his resolution to give up on her, something snaps and she's determined to show him the error of his ways…

Nice movie about love, self-esteem and respect.

Very nice shots, good shooting.

pfewwww...a rollercoaster!

IMDB

score: 8.5/10 (very good movie, worth watching it several times)

You definitely feel the money invested in this movie. It has stunning details, there are no flaws...and I am a very tough critic...

it's a +16 or +18 depending on the kids....

It is not only action or action, it also has some soft touches....

minus: the last minutes of the movie....

IMDB

ha...a GOOD movie...quite refreshing to see a new western...

minus point? at one time in the movie Indians appear in the movie...in the dark...and only visible for half a second...gave me the idea that they couldn't find the right actors or equipment....

is it a brilliant movie? no, it's not a classic to be, it won't be on the list of best westerns ever but it has it's strong points...

score: 7.75/10, not an 8 and not a 7

3:10 to Yuma - fighting scene (External Embedding Disabled)

maybe I'll rescore it after a 2nd view...

oh, this one has Russel Crowe in it so part of my score depends on him...without Russel the score would lower..
Christian Bale? Well, he's a good match against Crowe and delivers a good performance.

very disappointing.... Bedroefd

IMDB

Vin Diesel is becoming some kind of a 'Jean-Claude Van Damme' type with each movie becoming less interesting....

And Charlotte Rampling lowering herself to play in a movie like this?

IMDB

this one is difficult to describe and rate.

It has some strong visual issues and the undertone is very dark...

quote from IMDB:

Quote
After the installation of an alarm system by the twenty-three year old low-class Adam in her fancy upper class apartment, the sophisticated owner Alice invites him to go with her in her boss' "opening house" boring party in the countryside. Adam dates Alice and has a dream night in the fashionable party inclusive having sex with her. While driving back home in a lonely cobblestone road in the middle of the night, Alice hits a moose and the couple parks the car to remove the wounded animal from the road. However, a van stops and a gang brutally assaults Adam and rapes Alice. One month later, Adam is impotent with Alice, has awful scars in his face and a blind eye and the traumatized Alice returns to her work. However, she is informed that her father has passed away and she travels back to the countryside to visit her father's home. While driving back home, she meets one of her rapist by chance and she discovers where he lives. Alice meets Adam and convinces him to come with her to take revenge against the violent man

It scores low on IMDB, 5.7, but I give a higher rate and for me it scores for me a 7 because I would have a 2nd look at it.

Gillian Anderson performs better than Danny Dyer

WANTED

nice movie, an action filled matrix-kind movie with a nice touch of comedy without being too much of anything

mixture of actors with big names as Angeline Jolie & Morgan Freeman.

it deserves a 7/10

When you still have to see 'The Dark Knight' I would recommend that you see 'Batman Begins' first.

IMDB:
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight

BB is an intro to DK.

The best Batman movie off all of them in my opinion?
Batman Begins.
It's quite refreshing and less humorous.
Not filled with special effects from top to bottom.
Very good casting with the most popular actors as Michael Caine & Morgan Freeman as extras :-]
Christian Bale is a very dark Batman, not a womanizer but a man with his heart sold to 1 woman.

There are double DVD's out there with the 2 movies in 1 package, go for it!

The Rubber Duck

I watched 'Convoy' again, been a long time...I LOVE this movie

It's going back to the not-manipulated, digitalized, over-active, good old 70's movies...

IMDB

Quote
Chuck Arnoldi: We'd like to know, is this convoy some sort of protest demonstration? And if it is, what's its purpose?
Rubber Duck: Purpose of a convoy is to keep movin'.
