Future Force: Game puts Army’s direction in your hands‘Future Force’ tests players’ knowledge of manning, budget

If you’ve ever fancied yourself Army chief of staff material, the brains at Command and General Staff College have a game for you.
“Future Force” was designed to improve the quality and variety of education provided to midgrade officers attending CGSC at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and developed to teach force management, a complex subject that’s difficult to master, said Ken Long, assistant professor of logistics at CGSC.
“In the game, players are trying to develop a grand strategy for the future design of the Army, and trying to realize that design with budgetary constraints and information surprises — just like a real-life chief of staff of the Army,” Long said. “The enemy gets to have a vote, so [the players] have to learn how to adapt their plan and adapt their strategies.”
