Located just outside Palma de Mallorcas harbour you can find a small museum.
The entrance is free.
The museum handles about the Mallorcan histoy and in special the coastal defence.

A huge menace to the island though were pirates.
Pirates use to roam the coast and would go in the towns to plunder them.
A series of towers was build along the coast line which could communicate with eachother using fire and smoke signals.

Guns defended the entrence to the harbor.
Throughout the years the type of guns changed as well as their calibre. The largest gun field was a 152mm Vickers gun.
At the second world war the fortresses were occupied by 5 regiments of artillery in total.
