Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. Located just outside Palma de Mallorcas harbour you can find a small museum.
The entrance is free.
The museum handles about the Mallorcan histoy and in special the coastal defence.

Map with artillery and fortifications
Mallorca has been occupied by many foreign forces dating back to the Roman era.
A huge menace to the island though were pirates.
Pirates use to roam the coast and would go in the towns to plunder them.
A series of towers was build along the coast line which could communicate with eachother using fire and smoke signals.

Guardtower at Palma.
During 1500/1600 a fortres was build in the harbor, a long wall around the harbors edge to.
Guns defended the entrence to the harbor.
Throughout the years the type of guns changed as well as their calibre. The largest gun field was a 152mm Vickers gun.
At the second world war the fortresses were occupied by 5 regiments of artillery in total.
