-snip- this is one very interesting post.  The diversity is staggering.  I see music I've never heard of, and some that I didn't think anyone even knew about any more. -snip- You and Jilly switched gears so quickly.  It is hard to keep up.  

Yes, this thread is becoming cult, I have heard now from friends (I have it featured it on some of my blogs) that they can hardly wait to see what has been added. Myself, just chosing a random page is fun, scuh an interesting mix from classic, over rock to hard rock, and from so different sources, but most of all: Simply great music...

This morning there was an intensive flameco program on TV, focussed on the dance part (baile) accompanied by great musicians (we have 4 of our 8 channels playing different music from 0530-0700 every morning, now just need to find out how to grab some to my machine), this made me listen to some of my stuff, here is what was running until now:

One of my favorite Flamenco singers, Enrique Morentes (I have mentioned him before), together with one of my favorite dancers from the ´90s, Eva "La Yerbabuena", interpreting a poem of Garcia Lorca. This must have been late ´90s, as Morente is significantly older now, and Eva has gained some 20 kilos.

And, one of the most beautiful flamenco songs, by and performed by David "Dorantes" Peña on the piano: "Semblanzas de un Rio", the dancer is the famous and unique Pastora Galván.

this song was a huge clubhit in 1990, remember...this is ment to be heard LOUD, in a disco or when you feel like dancing to it...it's not the sit-still and enjoy kind of music...have some drinks...dim the lights and wiggle it

When my son was but a little fellow (4-5), I told him that this song was about him and I, to this day, it is our theme song and whenever he or I hear it, the flood of happy memories return. I dont know what made me think of using it in this manner, maybe it was the fact his mother and I had divorced and I wanted to instill a strength in him that we would always win...because 'We ARE the Champions'! This one is dedicated to my son... I love you, Boy!
