A PM conversation with our youngest member (Estrunky) today (he still does not find the guts to post in English to this distinguished audience here, he needs some animation! PM him!) reminded me of my rap and hip hop roots from the early ´80s, nobody even knew about the genre then (the words "rap" and "hip hop" actually made their way from this first rap song ever), we were searching new sounds and dance styles and encountered... my classic (did not find the original version, 14 min+ and 3000+ words lyrics  champ):

Lyrics (and the best accoustic wise version), "Whatchu hear is NOT a test...!!":

Rappers Delight

And, with pix:

Sugarhill Gang - Rapper's Delight

Enjoy (or not)!

So much great music on here.

Here's one that was really big in 2009,  she's a little unusual, but it's a catchy tune, some really good new stuff around right now:

I find Lady Gaga to be an astute artist who knows her stagecraft as well as how to turn a head. I have heard and seen this one before, it may well have been my first introduction to her and I liked it.

Black Sabbath Die Young

R.I.P Ronnie James Dio, you guys will make  good team!

Is your guy history now?

Maybe I am a bit conservative, but you gals seem to go through men like myself through trousers (insert other more intimate part of clothing here);... anyway, if you are hurting, this one might help (I know the feeling well and suffer with you, but then I always found a bottle of whiskey and a song of this musician in an after-hours closed down bar with a depressive owner - important, else he wont stay for you! -  and the bar stools all on the bar will cure love hurt within 25 hours, accelerating the process the signifantly important bit, just a hint from a dinosaur; it was true in the ´80s, maybe the magic still works in this millenium?)...

NOTE following lyrics present the standard *male* approach to broken-heart disaster, you gals I am sure have different ideas... Feel free to interpret it from your female POV, same thing in the end, methinks ("...better off w/o a husband..."):

Quote
... verbal introduction, 1975 style...., and then:

...all my friends are married
every Tom and Dick and Harry
you must be strong
to go it alone
here's to the bachelors
and the bowery bums
and those who feel that they're the ones
who are better off without a wife

I like to sleep until the crack of noon
midnight howlin' at the moon
goin' out when I wanto, comin' home when I please
I don't have to ask permission
if I want to go out fishing
and I never have to ask for the keys

never been no Valentino
had a girl who lived in Reno
left me for a trumpet player
didn't get me down
he was wanted for assault
though he said it weren't his fault
well the coppers rode him right
out of town

(chorus)

selfish about my privacy
as long as I can be with me
we get along so well I can't believe
I love to chew the fat with folks
and listen to all your dirty jokes
I'm so thankful for these friends
I do receive

Tom Waits Better Off Without a Wife

Or, from the FPOV and if you still hurt, long for him and want him back (again, subsitute man for gal), this one should make clear what goes and what not (lyrics in - crude - Spanish and English at my blog):

Alice - Tom Waits

If you find those ideas too hard to bear and prefer suffering more romantically, maybe this one - more lady friendly? - helps?:

Incubus:Love Hurts

Enjoy, or not,

Rattler

P.S.: The "moving on" vid is blocked in Spain... R.

... and, while I am at it, reviewing all my Tom Waits Albums (he really is a genious! Who else would dream up to sing such  song through a megaphone? And don´t get mislead by the "inept musician" show, the man plays 15 instruments to perfection...  Grijns), one for a very special and cherished lady (though she doenst seem to appreciate my composture to its whole extent, but then, who of us understands women?) who has a problem with going to church on sundays...

As always with him, the introduction makes the lyrics better...

Quote
I don't go to church on Sunday
I don't get on my knees to pray
Don't memorize the books of the Bible
I got my own special way...

I know Jesus loves me
(and I have to say) Maybe just a little bit more
I fall down on my knees every Sunday
At Zerelda Lee's candy store...

Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus
Make me feel good inside
Well, it got to be a chocolate Jesus
Keep me satisfied...

Well I don't want no Abba Zabba
And I don't want no Almond Joy
There ain't nothing better
Suitable for this boy
Well it's the only thing
That can pick me up
I say it is better than a cup of gold
I say only a chocolate Jesus
Can satisfy my soul

(Banjo Solo)

When the weather gets rough
And it's whiskey in the shade
It's best to wrap your savior
Up in cellophane
He will flow like the big muddy
But that's ok
Pour him over ice cream
For a nice parfait
Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus
Good enough for me
Got to be a chocolate Jesus
Good enough for me
Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus
Make me feel good inside
Got to be a chocolate Jesus
Keep me satisfied

Tom Waits - Chocolate Jesus

And, as I have been realizing there are misunderstandings seperating us lately, this one also for you:

Tom Waits - Innocent when you dream

Enjoy, princess, or not!

Thanks,  Rattler, that's very sweet of you.    congrats

I'm still struggling with church,  but I can't find a way out.  If I don't go then I get a call, and then I get to feeling bad and then the next Sunday, I'm there.  I find it very hard to let people that I like so much, down.

Here's a nice relaxing one.  One that I remember from some  years back, while driving in my car, on a hot summers day:

What, you forget what a door looks like? Seriously, we all have the power to make these decisions, you make yours when you give in to the self imposed guilt. I think you are not ready to be out, or you already would be. Thats my existential input, worth exactly what you paid for it...

If only the guilt was all self-imposed, I could live with that.

Guilt is always self imposed, that is , even when others suggest guilt, one need not take it on to themselves. And any who would consciously do such to you, have their own agenda, and while they may think it in your best interests to do so, your reaction on this thread indicates it is not so. Gather up your strength and look into your heart, I suspect you will recognize there is nothing wrong with choosing your own times and means to communicate with your spiritual guide.

A slightly remixed version of Lady Gaga's Poker Face and with a totally original music video.
Done by some talented people.  It's all independent.
