Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. I'm sorry to hear about your brother,  Rattler.  That is so sad  Bedroefd
(Almost) missed it:

Today, 16 yrs ago, for me was an almost unbelievable moment, my life literally stopped for a sec: You somehow always expect your parents/mentors to die before you, but not really your older (soul?) brother to die before your parents.

Well, DEC 4, 16 yrs ago FZ died from his long ignored (this was the therapy in those days) prostate cancer...  cry

The only *true* genious I ever have had the chance to see live (and, from experience, I am comparing this to Hendrix, CCR, ELP, ZZ Top, Metallica, Jethro Tull, Queen, Weather Report and all variations of the clan around Romantic Warrior, including Paco de Lucia, he himself another genious)...

I just hope he has the same ideas as Solideo (I doubt it, he was agnostic in every way)  and is currently just regrouping, this world is missing him!

In his memory a little tribute, also to give some more insights on this exceptional musician, composer, personallity and character...

• At age 22, his first ever TV appearance - on the Steve Allan Show 1962, Vietnam and hippies were still years out (I have records - vinyl - here with his first r+r sounds when he was 15 but haven´t digitized them yet so cannot share what would well be worht it). Here part one and two (of 4) of this event, youtoube the others yourself if you are becoming intrigued... (the 2nd actually shows him "playing" the bicycycle and shows his mind set:

Frank Zappa at 22 (1 of 4)

Frank Zappa at 22 (2 of 4)

• And then, one of his last TV apperances, 1993 on the NBX "Today Show" (the last you will find under "related" if you´re interested:

Zappa Interview Today Show 1993

• ...and then, of cause, anything else would make no sense, a little music of this genious I listened to (tape recorder that time) on my plane when nothing was on (probably dedicated especially to Canadians):

Frank Zappa Don't Eat The Yellow Snow, Nanook Rubs It, St. Alphonzos Pancake Breakfeast, Father O'Blivion

R.I.P. and, really, regroup!

Rattler

In case I was not really clear (hindsight!), but just FTR: Zappa was *not* my brother. (Indeed, I lost an older brother, but he died before I was even born...)

My reference here and the intent of my post was to explain my feelings 16yrs ago, Zappa is my generation indeed, but a bit older, and what he sang/performed/directed hit my personal feelings rigth on, so I would consider him a "soul" brother if at all aquainted.

Sorry for any confusion,

Rattler

Won´t doubt your gist here at all, but specifically *this* song for me is an elvis thingy:

The King

MerCury and Queen I would categorize more as "...fat bottom girls, you make the rocking world go round ...!"  whistle :

MerCury rocking in one of the old pieces, maybe not his best?

Yeeeeeeeeeees, I love Fleetwood Mac, specially Stevie Nicks´voice

Fleetwood Mac- Gypsy [Stevie Nicks] [Official Music Video]

Facman, I will carry on with all. Legionary spirits are usable in civil war. We have 12, but there is one 13th not written which said "If I step forward just follow me, if I step back kill me and if I die just have the vengueance for me". Life it´s the same " Por delante quien pueda, por detras quien quiera" ( Can go farther than you who can, but behind who wants).

This song is for you

Thrash Metal

Rattler, this song is an special "cutre" song, perhaps of your interest. Based on a true legionary song "Burdel de Casablanca"

Los Moles - El Legia (Original) (External Embedding Disabled)

Cheers mates, ladies and gentlemen

Hey, babes, it´s weekend here for another two days!  Brede lach

Anyway, as I posted the song in another thread and in a version I like 10x more (http://www.warandtactics.com/smf/the-lounge-get-a-beer-go-off-topic/what-do-we-do-to-earn-our-money/msg10376/#msg10376), and as cross posting is frowned upon (rightly so!), here another version:

Ok, ans while it´s easy to be good on Vivaldi, now that indeed is a Soprano of the rare kind, I have been following her for years (the Salieri and - as mentioned - the great Vivaldi stuff).

Compare her "Casta Diva" to The Callas and you will see (hear!) - ignore the years difference and the fact that today everything is taken slower and more bass pronounced and generally more sophisticated orchestra wise - that astounding subtlety of her voice and coloration, so unique you almost cannot compare the two, but well worth the heritage:

(To compare the styles, start the first vid at 0:15 and the second at 1:20)

Casta Diva -- Maria Callas (Best)

"Casta Diva" (Cecilia Bartoli)

Opera artist of the decade for me!
