Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. this is not a funny video!

Motoragent geschept op de A7

After an accident with a mini-van an ambulance gets assistance of 3 police motorcyclists. (Holland)

1 starts off immediately to get a distance and prepare the traffic on the nearby highway for the coming of the ambulance...and then it goes wrong...

here's a different view...

http://www.biertijd.com/mediaplayer/?itemid=15627

it always shocks me when people on duty are into problems...certainly by a 'sleepwalking' driver like this one...I cannot think differently that he wasn't driving concentrating on the road...

I saw the ther footage as well.
He was driving way to close behind the truck.
Young guy to with a sterotype fast car.
Probably more busy with his cd/radio than paying attention to traffic.
His sound may have been loud as well, since there were plenty of sirenes to be heard.
Last week a woman was killed on the same road while trying to walk over.......

seriously (and I am speaking from experience with 100k motorway km every year for more than 25 yrs), you get into a lull after 4-6 hours, breaks or not.

He could not see the obstacle long way ahead behind the truck (one of my rules: Never follow a truck - or any other vehicle that obstructs your sight ahead - for a long time), and after some hours on the road, in a dulling rhythm, you get kind of hypnotized...

(I had an accident like that myself riding a motorbike, truck pulled to the right, and suddenly I found myself behind another -stopped! waiting to turn left -  truck at 70 km/h.... Luckily I survived, let the moto slide under the truck and got rid of it, but almost too late. moto was crushed completely, beyond recognition...).

The agent also did not what was correct: Facing into - instead of turning to face out of -  the general traffic to avoid such a (not rare) situation... We all get distracted/lazy sometimes, he paid for his laziness/distraction...

Hope he recovered to tell the next police generation? What about the car driver?

the car driver stept out without injuries...I also found the bikers actions strange but looking at the speed of the traffic I suspect it was one of those thousands of tracks in Holland where the speed is limited to 70-90 kph...4 lanes or not...

P.S.: In another forum I frequent I now would get a reprimand for infraction of forum rules, having posted twice in a row, hope we never have to get to that stage.... Smiley R.

Thanks for the footage, sending link to my son immediately, as he is a Motor Officer and could use the lesson to ease his Da's mind.

On the other hand, even if you get hypnotized...a truck doesnt go to the right for nothing.
It means something blocks his way.

So you are stupid if you go on.

Thats the way motorcicle officers do it, i showed my uncle this footage, he is a motorcicle cop here in Belgium. That driver in the car just wasn't paying attention, all the others went to the other lane + he had enough time to see him. He schould lose his drivers licence forever. If thats the way you drive then you are a serious danger to others on the road and you schould not be driving.
