Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. Was the 91st Luftlandedivision a formation found in the Luftwaffe or Heer? Can anyone point me in the direction of their OOB & deployment on 6jun44.

I have been here...http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/inhaltsverzeichnis1.htm
Unfortunately it has been some 40 years since I last studied Deutsche. After some 3 hrs struggling with translating just one piece of info from the site, I have very little to show for it. So I seek someplace to find the info in english.

Thanks!

91. Luftlande Infanterie-Division was formed in January 1944. Although earmarked and equipped for air landing operations, the division was transferred to Normandy in May 1944 where it formed part of the static defenses of the Cotentin Peninsula. The division was strengthened by the attachment of Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 6 and Panzer-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Abteilung 100. The division was destroyed near Cherbourg on 22 June 1944 and disbanded on 10 August 1944.

Thanks Koen!
I had also found that info. I am looking for strengths & deployments of the formations specifically.
I am working on a scenario involving elements from the 91st LL & 82nd AB on 6jun44. The Allied OOB & deployment is ready, as is the map (my recce in Normandy by Huzaar, *tip of the hat* says it will do, as the location was easily identifiable on his actual maps). Once I have the 91st deployment & strength plugged in, I can begin playtesting.

Vorgeschichte

November 1944 in 344.Infanterie Division
umgetauft.

FJ-Regiment ausgegeben:

I.Batallion:
Vorstoß auf Ste.Marie du Mont/La Madeleine, um den Druck auf Wiederstandsnest W5
(Mittelpunkt des Bunkernetzes im Bereich Utah Beach)

II.Batallion:

III.Batallion:
Rückliegender Flankenschutz für I./II.

attackiert. Weiter nördlich griff das Grenadier-Regiment 1057 gegen landende
Fallschirmtruppen am Fluss Mederet an.

Die Angriffe des I./II. FJ-Batallions verliefen relativ erfolgreich.

St.Come du Mont zurückzuziehen
.

Zudem

Fallschirmtruppen in ihren Einsatzräumen abzulösen.

Artillerie in St.Come du Mont abgewehrt werden.

Prehistory

On the 15th of January 1944, Huh? am was set up cube division on the military training area of tree lovelier.  At the same time al served use there reinforced Grenadier Regiment of that of the replacement army (1.Welle), of 1025 as well as part Grenadier the 1032 (sting and II).  Regulates.Huh?

???Subsequently it was planned for an air country use and was transferred in cave room rhyme.  Cube has am stirred corresponding Umbewaffnung 06.  March of that instead of of 1944: Herewith artillery Regiment became there a Gebirgs-artillery-Regiment and there division-Füsilier-battalion 91 erected, which was used later to the clarification.Huh?

???On the basis of the planning for it's use, as of April 1944 Paratrooper Regiment 6 (2. FJ division)the division became there  allotted, which was used to the protection of the peninsula Contentin and related an
ingesamt 20km wide defense line.Huh?

Abridged version of the combat flows  {Combat History?}

???At the 06.Juni.1944, it came on the peninsula Contentin to the landing of anglo American parachute troops,
under them the 82nd and 101st Airborne.  In consequence, it came fight for to heavy and in St. Mére-Eglise and
Carentan.Huh?

???The division was driven back until south of Cherbourg and became smash in fights in its drop movement in
Lessany and Coutance toward Brehal at that 22. June.  The division was dissolved on the 10th of August 1944.Huh?

???Later it became in that 7. army out of the whale cure unit battle group Kastdorf in the Eifel newly aufgestallt and on the
5th of November 1944 in 344. infantry division rechristened.  In the later course, it was used among other things in the
Ardennen offensive and in the defense of Berlin 1945.Huh?

 ???Combat flows???

???In the night to that 06. June 1944 American burst (82nd and parts of the 101st.  Airborne) and British paratroopers exactly into this erected defense line
whereon it came to heavy fights.Huh?

???The first attacks were carried out through the 501st Parachute Regiment (101st Airborne Divsion), which on the zone between St. Come you were shown to
Mont, Baupte and Carentan.  These attacks was countered immediately of German paratroopers whereon almost a company was brought after Carentan in
captivity.  In the night burst further 500 U.S. paratrooper in the southern area of Carentan (room of the III. /FJR6) and in the eastern area of St.
Jores (I./FJR6) off.  At the troops, it acted itself usually over far dispersed part units, that were distributed by reason of coordination problems,
over the entire drop room.Huh?

Following commands were issued at the same time at the 6th FJ Regiment:

???I. Batallion:  Attack on Ste. Marie you Mont/La maggot line, around the pressure on again state nest W5 (midpoint of the bunker network in
the area Utah Beach)Huh?

II. Batallion:  Attack on Turqueville where the 795th Georgian Battalion had set up.

III. Batallion:  ???Back situation flank protection for I. /II.Huh?

???While the I concentrated. /II. on its goals, it came in the III. still to single combat with dispersed of the American parachute troops.  The steeple of Carentan was used at the same time to the artillery coordination, which through
it a key position became for the battles further north.Huh?

???Further U. S. Airborne-units, which found its theater of operations in the south room of the peninsula, were attacked of
Grenadier Regiment 1058/storm Batallion Messerschmidt.  Further north the Grenadier Regiment 1057 against landing parachute
troops attacked at the river Mederet.Huh?

???The attacks of the I. /II.  FJ Batallions passed relatively successfully.  It was the 1ST Batallion possible to the outlying districts of St. Marie you Mont (ca.  5km of W5 removes to venture), placed however firmly
that these were already in firm hand of the 101st Airborne division, which were supported later by the troops arriving in the beach section Utah Beach of the 4th Infantery division.  On that there the I. Batallion
position related and dug itself outside of the city on.  As a cover and disguise, the sterns and fields served at the same time in priority.Huh?

???The II.  Batallion was attacked meanwhile heavily of its left flank out of St. Mere Eglise where the 507th PIR
had fixed itself itself and was reinforced permanently through further gathering troops.  On the basis of the
fact that the defending Flak garrison had delivered its position at the Americans and the ammunition went to
heavy attacks to slope, was forced to withdraw the II. Batallion into the south from St. Come you Mont.Huh?

???The positions in all around St. Come you Mont were held further of the I. Batallion, which were pressured however always
more strongly by arriving troops.  In the evening hours, further 150 troops of the Amerikanen north ötslich of Carentan
landed, exactly in the flanks of the I. Batallions.  Moreover gunfire of its positions which came from the Navy
Artillery came in the night of heavy artillery.  In the early morning hours the 07. June further American troops between
Angoville, St. Marie Dumont and Hiesville landed.  Therewith the I. Batallion was included always further of the enemy
and decreased possible withdrawal ways therewith always further.Huh?

???The Americans had meanwhile recognized, the strategically important position of the steeple in Carentan, which became immediately under heavy artillery gunfire genommmen.  The arrived allierten troops (infantry, artillery, tank) were led following further into the inland of the peninsula in order to remove the allierten parachute troops in its theaters of operations.  At the same time
became the Douve north of Carentan, as well as to cross the Carentan canal and to block therewith La Barquette as a goal set, which
was taken in by the 501st PIR at that 06. June.Huh?

The attacks over the bridges would be defended by dug in troops, as well as the artillery in St. Come you Mont.
