Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. War and Tactics is a project, a board that's meant to act as a medium to discuss facts and store data.

We divided the board into different subjects:

*the usual welcome board (info on WaT and the board)
*War & Conflicts: discussions & pictures (dicussing and sharing data and pictures on war & conflicts)
*The Military (discussions and info on the military life in all it's forms)
*TOE: Military Equipment and TO&E (Table of Organization & Equipment) (naval-air-ground-future)
*OOB: Orders of Battle
*The Archives: WaT historical database (pictures, maps, videos, personalities,...)
*Non-Military Discussions & Info: planet Earth / political forum / lounge / previews and reviews
*Wargaming

As you see there's a wide range of possibilities to post, read, share and discuss.

WaT is not a closed club, we are open for all people who are interested in history and the military.

WaT can use active members, people like you who got experience and want to share their knowledge.

Job applications:

-news managers: guys who visit the newsboards and forums daily, who read the serious newspapers from start till end, who can write a nice article and keep the topic up-to-date
-historians: people who have a certain amount of experience in 1 or more timeframes in history.
-wargame specialists: people with a wide experience in wargames
-military advisors: members who are active or former soldiers, they can take care of the military board and share their real-life experience with others
-experts in military equipment

These applications don't mean that regular members aren't welcome! As said 'everybody's welcome', the info is there to share.
All we ask, when you copy data, is to put a link towards the source. (as we do at WaT)

Will YOU become a member of WE?

enough said...when you are interested or when you have questions please feel free to contact me by mail/PM or in this topic.

Talk to you soon
CU later

I'd apply es equipment expert, though I only am knowledgeable about German AFVs and German vehicle camouflage. I don't claim, though, to know everything but I hope to know enough to be of help to those that know less. Does that qualify? Grijns

yes it does, especially the 'help to those...' part means alot to me!

WaT is about sharing, not about being the biggest poster, highest grade or such...

I expect from you to read and check ALL posts in the TO&E section, post new posts, making sure that the topictitles are historically and technical correct!
examples:
*the Sd.Kfz. numbers, it's Sd.Kfz. and not Sdkfz
*Sd.Kfz. 2/1 kleines Kettenkraftrad für Feldfernkabel, it's 2/1 and not 21
*etc

As admin I expect you also to check ME! I'm not God so I do make mistakes, when you see them you tell me.
Corrections are not made in replies to make sure that posts don't go long just because the mods are babbling with eachother.
We PM eachother or send an email.
For the first weeks I want you to discuss with me every single step you make/take so that we become a TEAM.

When you think that my demands are reasonable you're in DA Team.

You are rewarded with the title of 'TO&E specialist' and have now the rank of Staff-Sergeant.
The rank gives you access to the Regimental HQ where you can read/ask anything you want about the project, the board and the other teammembers.

That'll be quite a lot of work, but I'll try to sight all available material.

Cannot find anything unreasonable with your demands. Just ahven't read your mail ealrier, so I accidentally made the post again. Where am I supposed to start that discussion?

it's all been checked by myself so I would try to keep up with the new posts first and then go through the old ones

Don't worry, you're a volunteer and I appreciate your effort. The basics are a good communication, the rest will follow

That is good to know, actually. I'll start a topic asking some things first - that might reduce the chance of weird things happening.

Monty B has promoted himself to be our news agent  hihi

These last days he's been updating us with the latest (military) news from around the world.

Interesting stuff to read and a good base for knowledge and further investigation.

Thx, Monty B! Seems that my long search for a newsreporter finally comes to an end

I salute you  salute

Great!

Just one thing (always the spolier, sorry):

We do have both a mil as well as a non-mil news section, it seems to me most of what Monty posted so far (not all) should go there instead of the "Equipment" section.

Lets not get carried away folks, I just had a few minutes to spare.

I don't have a whole lot of sources to do a job like that.
