I think it is funny that the video demonstrating the Flak gun in operation is entirely of it in action against ground targets.

Very true, it was a weapon ahead of its time although I would doubt its effectiveness against modern targets.

Reason for what the ahead of its time thing or the effectiveness today thing?

It was an advanced weapon for its time due to the multi-role capability and firing systems but todays armour would make it somewhat ineffective at anything but very close range and the speed of todays aircraft would negate its AA effectiveness.

I have one near me that they roll out and fire on occasion, the problem is that while the gun is completely original it had a chunk taken out of the barrel to make it safe so it can not fire full charge rounds.

Well,

The one I am sitting on is in a hangar of the Dutch army. Not long ago it was on display at an airforcebase and taken over by the military police.
The gun wasnt disabled..............
