Postcard with view of the village of Lidice Czech Republic before the massacre and afterwards with a memorial built.  Read more about the massacre at wikipedia here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lidice
This postcard has a special commorative cancel on the back and was mailed in 1953, the 10th anniversary of the atrocity.

read a book about Lidice and I can tell you it's a horrible story..

it was a reprisal for the assault and assasination of Heydrich, chief of the SD, SicherheitsDienst in Prague on 27 May 1942.
