#1 seems difficult to come up with a proper term, although it's a common enough scene.  Way/road/route+explanation/clarification would seem to be the literal translation.  Is the officier explaining a plan of attack?  issuing orders?

look at what the 3rd guy from the right is holding, a signal shield for traffic guiding...

Good eye, Koen!  Aren't/were'n't MPs (military police) in charge of traffic/convoy guidance in WWII for the US?  I saw it in a movie, I think!
