Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. Photobucket

how to use it:

1. go to http://photobucket.com and register by pressing the 'Join Now' button.

2. choose a username, password and email (you'll get an email to confirm)

3. In the settings you can choose wich URL's you want to see when looking at your pictures:

  • 1. Share by email & IM (view on Photobucket website)
Use this to share your content via email or IM. Your media will display on the Photobucket full-view page.

  • 2. Direct link for layout pages (MySpace backgrounds and custom websites)
Use this for layout pages, MySpace backgrounds, or general linking to your content via the URL. The direct link may need to be wrapped in additional HTML code, or the media may not display on the site that it is linked to.

  • 3. HTML for websites & blogs (MySpace, Hi5, Orkut, Friendster, eBay & more)
    3a Full size
Use this to embed your content (at its full size) on websites or blogs such as MySpace, Hi5, Blogger, eBay and more! Your media will display on the site that it is linked to.
    3b Clickable thumbnail
Use this to embed your content as a clickable thumbnail (160 x 120 pixels) on websites or blogs such as MySpace, Hi5, Blogger, eBay and more! Your media will display on the site that it is linked to.

  • 4. IMG for bulletin boards & forums
    4a Full size
(Use this to embed your content (at its full size) on bulletin boards and forums. You may have to modify the code to on some forums. Your media will display on the site that it is linked to.)
    4b Clickable thumbnail
Use this to embed your content as a clickable thumbnail (160 x 120 pixels) on bulletin boards and forums. Your media will display on the site that it is linked to.

  • 5. Flash for websites & blogs (includes the tags you've added)

4. for forum/board use you need options 4a & 4b:

4a gives you the pictures in the size they are stored at Photobucket
4b gives you clickable thumbnails, this limits the bandwith we all use on WaT and gives you faster loading of the boardtopic

option 4a, fullsize[/color][/b]

option 4b, clickable thumbnail

wanna have a good-looking post?

when you have 20 pictures uploaded to Pb choose the 20 thumbnail URL's and post them in your WaT topic this way:

URL1xURL2 URL3 URL4
URL5 URL6 URL7 URL8
URL9 URL10 URL11 URL12
URL13 URL14 URL15 URL16
URL17 URL18 URL19 URL20

x=1 space inbetween every URL

don't hesitate to ask for help

Okay,   I know how to use phtotbucket,  but haven't experimented with thumbnails at all.  I try to  pick the smaller pictures off the internet when I post,  are they still too big?

I don't have time right now,  but this evening I'll try that and also to compress the pics as Rattler showed us one time.  Promise!

problem with 'picking' pictures from the net is:
1.when they delete THEIR pictures YOUR pictures will also be deleted in YOUR post. So you should 1.upload the pics to YOUR Pb account and 2.use those thumbnail URL's in your post

2.you can choose between a)uploading pictures from your HD(my documents) or b)copy/pasting the URL from a picture you found on the net. Click mouse-right, copy the URL of the pic and paste it to your Pb account.

FYI: compressing is not the same as modifying your pic to a lower quality/lower loading time although the result is the same: less kb/mb's for the same file

I think its handy if we add this in Dutch too for the obvious reasons.
We can discuss that tomorrow.
