Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. Huh? What is a descriptive link?

A "descriptive link", in difference to a normal or "crude" link is a word or a phrase in plain text that hides the URL the link relates to.

Example:

A crude link
would look something like that, in this case it is the written URL of one article Danger room: http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2009/09/pentagon-wants-space-junk-cleaner/

The same article, by descriptive link, could look like that: Wired Article about Space Debris

How-to insert a descriptive link into a post

A descriptive link is done via BBCode[/url, you add the code to your post and replace the place holders with your data.

Here the code, you can copy and paste it to use in your posts:

Code:
[url=http://somesite/]descriptive link[/url]

It is quite self explanatory how to use it: Replace "somesite" with your URL, and replace "descriptive link" with your text you want linked to your URL. Done

Hope that helps,
