ETA members quit militancy

Some 800 incarcerated members of the Basque separatist group ETA have signed up to a pledge to lay down arms, in an open and internationally verifiable process. ETA has been around since 1959. Its campaign of guerilla violence for a separate Basque homeland in northern Spain has claimed more than 850 lives.

For most folks, no news is good news; for the press, good news is no-no news, and people everywhere confuse what they read in newspapers with true news.

Sadly neither the headline nor the content are correct:

First: ETA is not a "Separatist Organisation" its a plain terrorist group if ever one existed (and recognized as such worldwide officially). I dont understand why media still use the reference "separatist organisation" for a bunch of terrorists who after Franco (during the dictatorship they indeed only attacked military members) killed indiscriminately civilians, politicians, journalists etc. including women and children for a total of around 850 victims.

While indeed the ETA prisoners voiced a communique where they recommend ETA lays down arms ETA has not done so and is not going to do so soon, the comuniqué just shows the internal division of the terrorist group.

What is more, the prisoners do not voice repent, and this weekend elected one historic terrorist - Jon Aguirre Aguiriano, “Elurtxuri” who killed a 13-yrs old with a bomb, served a sentence of 30 years for it til may 2011 and never ever even apologized to the family -  as their official speaker:

So, dont think this is over yet, its just a "political" move of the terrorist band that goes along with our governent who have changed their discourse - in an Orwellian newspeak sense - and now dont speak of "terrorists and victims" anymore but of "victimizers and victims", for what its worth...
