I am really taken aback by the death of someone whom I have not ever met personally but follwed his actions from my arm chair distance (and related through my Italian friends Mateo and Lino) for a long time. I am more taken aback still by the form he was killed and (if possible) even more by how he was treated before.
From all I know Vittorio Arrigoni at his only 36 years was the kind of activist you would dream of, refraining from politics, a "Older (and "big") Brother" who was out there for more than a decade, saving lives, softening hurts and with an open ear for everybody (and with a big background of supporters). Not the kind of tree-hugging whacko that has no clue, but a dedicated helper, with *your* mission understood and translated into effecive actions. Just have a look at
his facebook page to see what I mean (translation of the excerpt by me):
Whats up if I cannot describe the power and the "why" to those that never have ears to listen for to ask justice for those that have no voice
To hear that the a group of the people who he has helped so much murdered him this way to "send a message" simply excludes those people from civilisation, sorry. There is no defense aspect in this, no religious rectification even if claimed (such acts are expressively by every religion and every interpretation I know), you killers just disqualified: Nobody ever will give you leeway, as you quite obviously dont respect the basics of your own culture: Hospitality, and obligation towards saviours.
Vittorio from what I have understood was never the "loony hippie" but a very well settled )he bleft his families wealth to become Palestinian) man with a task: To help victims in a conflict that he (as myself and many more) feel is one sided and has created a species of victims that only are mentioned in the media for effect but without any impact on politics that create and maintain the conflict (NOTE I did *not* mention Israel, yet).
What a disgrace, really, shame on you medevial retards, you just killed your greatest ally and deserve the condemnation that you are receiving from all who are sided with your people that you claim to represent, but do definitely not...
The result of your actions? Start calculating whom you helped in his job...
Hijos de puta! (aunque vuestras madres serian todas santas)! And stupid, stupid, stupid! And, yoou are without respect, and you deserve none, whatever you in your twisted minds may think. You are looking for martyrs? You just created one, and big time!
The only one positive note in this disgrace (if you can find anything positive in this senseless acrtion), FWIW: The Gaza people in their vast mayority feel the same as myself - and express it all on the net - and have triggered the capture of the murderers from inside the strip, thats the true feeling of folks who suffer and dont want to understand about the active side of massacres.
You killers? I find no words for you except "retards". What did your mothers tell you about life? Your fathers? I even bet you have not lost anybody of your family, just wanted part of the EU money. No respect from men you deserve, none from god you will get. This gentleman was more man than all of you together, you have done nothing for your people, not for any other people, you dont deserve the water you are using.
Two vids, one of the past Vittorio, and one from his predicament, the latter, while gross, to make clear what I am writing about beyond the impact of my mere words (and one extra after my post to set the frame).
On 11 April 2011, a Gazan group named Tawhid wal-Jihad or Tawhid and Jihad announced that it had kidnapped Vittorio Arrigoni (36), an Italian national, in the Gaza Strip. It threatened to execute him unless Hamas released its leader, Hesham al-Sa'eedni, by 5 pm the following day. Hamas, which governs the Gaza Strip and is itself designated as a terrorist organization by the European Union, the United States and other countries, had imprisoned al-Sa'eedni the previous month.
Arrigoni was a pro-Palestinian activist and a member of the Palestinian-led International Solidarity Movement. Also described as a "pacifist" and a "blogger", he had been living in the territory since arriving on one of the first flotillas to Gaza in 2008.
Tawhid wal-Jihad released a video to YouTube calling their captive "Victor, an Italian journalist" and demanding the release of global jihadists, including supporters of the group. Set to Arabic music, the footage showed Arrigoni blindfolded, with tied hands and blood around his right eye, held roughly by the hair. The captor was hidden with only his outstretched arm visible. Arabic text in the clip described Italy as "the infidel state" and said that "the Italian hostage entered our land only to spread corruption". The video was similar to others released by extremists in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Arrigoni was found dead well before the deadline. Hamas said it had stormed a house where they thought Arrigoni was being held, fought with the abductors, and then found his body, hanged. Hamas condemned the killing and said it had made two arrests.
EDIT: Decided to skip the vid where we see Vic humiliated, blindfolded and beaten, no reason to post it here, you can find it on the net for yourself (my decision was triggered by an US American - kid? - who commented "Cool Vid!!!", we dont need to attract *our* societies nut jobs to here...). I replaced it with an interview with him, voice and face give you a better impression of whom we lost.
Thank you, Vittorio, you risked but never deserved this outcome!
