I noticed that they wore a lot of belts in those days.  It's a good job most of the soldiers were so slim.  Do the  German  military still use belts as much as they used to as part of the uniform?

I think all armies use *lots* of belts, straps, etc.: Plenty of stuff to carry, and every decade more.

OTOH, we need to think about changing this thread title, as it only shows German Heer in WWII, today all looks much different.
