Assad’s family fails to flee Syria?Armed opposition groups have prevented Syrian President Bashar Assad’s family from fleeing the country, a source in the Syrian Free Army said on Monday.
It added that a convoy of official vehicles carrying Assad’s wife, along with his sons, mother and cousin, was seen heading to a Damascus airport before they were intercepted by opposition activists on Sunday evening.
The subsequent heavy exchange of fire between security forces and the opposition prompted the convoy to return to the presidential palace.
