It´s more a question on how strict to make the rules in Off-Topic, methinks (and an Off Topic section by itself already dilutes a site, is very welcome from my POV, but already too much for some purists, for example we lost some members just for having it):

If some members want to post pictures they are not sure about whether they collide with our rules it is best to have the members themselves decide on the rules, after all it is them as a whole that make the site what it is, and they need to feel at home. It is a hobby after all, and some see it more pure, others come for the community and the people they meet here, sharing more than just warfare discussions.

In general, when staff is finding a subject controversial and the staff members themselves are split up over it´s aspects a poll is always a good option.
