Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. I thought this thread could be about the 'ARTS', as in fine arts,  the theater,  movies etc.

This July I spent some time in Montreal, here in Canada.  We visited many interesting places, and one of them was the Fine Arts Museum. Here are a painting by Vincent Van Gogh:

This is the same painting on the internet,  this one is much clearer.  I used the flash on mine (shouldn't have done really, it was bad of me).  whistle

Here's another painting from the same place.  It's by a different artist,  does anyone want to have a guess to what it's called and who it's by?

Wild guess (no clue really): Picasso? Reminds me of the style of some I have seen by him. No idea what it would be called..., "couple" maybe, or "lovers" (as its obviously a man and a woman sitting nekkid by each other)?

I used the flash on mine (shouldn't have done really, it was bad of me).  whistle

I wonder they even let you use it, the light mix in flashes can damange the pigments of old paintings (basically, you are exposing it to harsh sunlight for a moment).

Yes,  it's a Picasso,  Called 'Embrace'.  Is there anything that you do not know  Rattler?   Tong

We are not supposed to use flash in the art museum,  I shouldn't have done it.

It´s a pity we only remember the famous dead, when everyday die lots of unknown people in tragedies. Unfortunately I see many deads along the year, have to stand by their mothes, sons, ...family, crying, shouting,....at least this man had the oportunity to live a life although he is dead not older than he should . It´s so different when you see children in same situation and they die without the oportunity of having lived a life.

Anyway, RIO Patrick. Rest in peace

You're right ofcourse, Solideo.  Many people die every day,  people who we will never know,  or ever meet, it is very sad.  Especially when it comes to children,  many who are sick in hospitals..

The Blue Man Group from Germany:

The strangest mix of serious musicians, marketing specialists, performance artists, actors and comedians I have had the chance to see live a few times (on job, 7+ yrs ago).

Serious money involved, but also serious show and, my take: Art.

We will speak about them in 20 yrs still, they fascinated me and many others when we saw them, something mesmeizing about their show, their concerts were events....

Enjoy,

When I saw them, and that included off and back stage, they were painted with body paint (whole body actually, they would do performances before the concerts outside), I imagine the black light (UV) adds to the effect.

Strange? Don´t know, maybe "different" would suit me better, it comes from attacking (unlike like other musicisans that do not do flamenco) *all* your senses and your brain on top...

I find them most creative, the use of drain pipes and expecially the 3rd vid are example for that, live they are a real a roller coaster carrying you along...

When you come out from thge concert you need a (long) moment of re-orientation, and you cannot talk for 10 min about what you saw, too much input to digest.

Art.
