Hmmmm....

Can you maybe let us mere mortals know what is so funny about those? They do not seem to be self-explaining to me....?

I went throuhg the whole thing seriously and  not unexpectedly got confirmation that US Americans seem to have a problem with the word "penis" or anyting faintly close  Brede lach, but why is that funny?

Nobody ever seems to follow the safety instructions. My serious advice:

DONT
- wear sneakers on a flight
- wear pantyhose on aflight (imagine yourself runninng through a minor fire with the pantyhose melting into your skin!)
- wear anything of synthetic fibres on a flight

INSTEAD DO
- wear cotton or other fire resistant stuff
- make sure you have good footwear for when you have to evacuate

Chances you will need this advice are much higher thatn those of a crash.

Its not that we have trouble with the subject, it was the announcers (a comedian) reaction to the women using the word in a game 'Family Feud' known to be watched by families. He was milking it for all the laughs he could get, but if you didnt catch the satire, it would fall flat, as it did for you.

I had not even noticed this was meant to be a comedy (sorry, really, sometimes I am just dumb...-  hdbng), today all "serious" stuff looks like it alike, thanks for getting me up to speed (I promise, Spanish speaking granted, you wont want to see any of *our* comedies then, you might suffer heart stroke as for our political incorrectness).

This said, I still do not find it easy to see the satire around the word "penis" (but then, living in Spain - and it only applies here! Southern America or even Caifornia will just get you stabbed! - , I am used to hear "conyo" (cunt), "toma por culo" (take it up your rear), "joder!" (fuck) every five minutes when just talking about a coffee and a brandy (because all those rhyme), so, taking it as just a background noise and never offensively maybe I am hardened too much to this kind of input to see the fun.

What I find funny is when (and this is comedy also, JFTR, but probably unwanted) our prominents start to exhibit their capacities in speaking English (while 50% of the EU citizens speak English, in Spain we just hit 27%, and this only below the age of 45; above 35 years old, only 5% of Spanish speak English: http://www.meneame.net/story/solo-27-espanoles-habla-ingles), we are not really friendly with neither our national heroes (Raul is!) nor our presidents or politicians in this respect:

Better have a look at the original, not manipulated...! (personally, I cannot decide which of the two shows our national hero in better light, I love them both soooooo much; you have to search a long time for someone represnting his and his nations faults so with ease, this I mean serious).

humour is a personal thing that depends on your own character, life experiences and the society you live in

ofcourse we're all used to dirty talk and certain words being used daily but when that woman seriously thinks for seconds and then comes up, with a straight face, with 'penis'...well that was funny and ofcourse the showhost takes it further and uses it to the maximum... he's supposed to do that...

mostly I love the guys who can be the funniest with a straight face, where only at the end you realise they're telling a joke...

and there are plenty of humourus things around not ment to be serious... In Belgium we have a programm every evening where they interview the man on the street... (the program now also has a Dutch variant)...there are so funny parts in it where people are being serious...It's hard to show you videos about it since it's in Flemish...and sometimes in a kind of Flemish I can hardly understand...
