Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. I assure you: To you would happen the same as to that guy in the vid: Once you overcome your feeling of "Eeww" and try them you find they are delicious and taste nothing like what they look... Smiley Pure muscle.

Now after the rain already collected 3 kilos (that else would just destroy my plants), they now will be kept for 2+ weeks in a special cage I made for them a few years ago and fed with fennel (grows wild here) to thorougly clean them and give them the spice they need.

Once that is done I then will prepare a great feast meal from them... Smiley

I have never tried either.  Just looking at them puts me off.  Maybe if I tried one...but don't know if I could.

How about clams?  We have an abundance of them here,  there is one particular lake where there are literally thousands in  the water, and it's hard not to step on them.  Sometimes my kids bring some home and keep them as pets!  Would they be safe to eat?

Quote
In North America

In culinary use, within the eastern coast of the USA, the term "clam" most often refers to the hard clam Mercenaria mercenaria. It may also refer to several other common edible species, such as the soft-shell clam, Mya arenaria, and the ocean quahog, Arctica islandica. Another species which is commercially exploited on the Atlantic Coast of the US is the surf clam Spisula solidissima.

Clams can be eaten raw, steamed, boiled, baked or fried; the method of preparation depends partly on the size and species of the clam. They can also be made into clam chowder (a popular soup in the U.S. and Canada) or they can be cooked using hot rocks and seaweed in a New England clam bake.

The clams around here look like this:

You don't have to go very far in the water to scoop them up with your hands.  Once cooked they are probably more appetizing I'm sure.

Interesting article at Slate´s about this video (Good meets Evil: Laughing Baby vs. Youtube Commenters), I did not even have the faintest idea this vid was watched 45 Million times and had 60.000 comments: http://www.slate.com/id/2189281/

Some excerpts:

Quote
To be fair to YouTube, the majority of comments salute Laughing Baby's cuteness, adorableness, and all-around joy-bringing abilities. (My favorite was this grudging praise: "DUDE IM A GUY AND IM SAYING HES CUTE.") The noncute comments cluster into these areas of inquiry:

Armchair pediatricians: Many people think that Laughing Baby is sick: "The baby is very sweet, but he sounds asthmatic. They should have him checked out." Even better: "I read a scientific study that had to do with dopamine levels in toddlers and how they affected their personality. This little guy obviously enjoys the dopamine 'high' he's getting out of laughing this much. Unfortunately, children like this have very high rates of drug use later in life. Strange, but true." The armchair pediatricians also declare a persistent belief that people can die from laughing too hard.

Drugs: The majority of drug commenters use their wisdom to discern that Laughing Baby is obviously high, or that the father must have smoked up just before the video was shot. Other suggested influences include crack, nitrous, and peaches with crack in them. The notion that Laughing Baby himself could be used as a drug is often aired.

Actual analysis: Very rare. " 'Bing' appears to be more humorous than 'Dong' " being the most astute observation that I came across. -snip-

The horror: Many commenters write that the baby's laugh is evil and not funny or joy-bringing. Laughing Baby is "like a Scottie dog with rabies" or the "son of Hitler," and watching him will lead to nightmares. Closely related to these commenters are those who say they watch Laughing Baby and wish never to have children. -snip-

Mean: The occasional commenter will get provoked by all the cute remarks and say that Laughing Baby has a "bigass forehead" or that he'd like to see Laughing Baby laughing "while engulfed in flames." These comments typically set off little wars, such as, "Don't hate on the baby," "You obviously have no life and no children," and so on.

Religious: Some commenters speculate that Laughing Baby might be the voice of God. I assume this is not meant literally, but rather that Laughing Baby was sent to YouTube by God to make us all happy. One commenter suggested that Laughing Baby "must be a jewish baby" (because he has a sense of humor?), while others assumed he was Buddhist, while still others asked that Allah make him a Muslim.

Insane
: "Retarded human infant!!! I will destroy you all!!!!" and "Imagine the US president being honest like this baby—the world would be more peaceful, I think!"

After reading the whole article I still am amazed what a simple home vid can start moving, andhow many people actually think a lot about it and even go to the length of commenting on it...

This said, I agree, kids are the salt of the earth:

Those were funny, Koen.  Grijns

Rattler,  I had no idea about all the hoopla surrounding that video of the baby.  What a shame that some people will make something so innocent and sweet into something dark and sinister....

...reminds me of the old joke about what is the similarity between female breasts and model trains?

Both are made for children, but grown up men play with them...!  hihi
