on Youtube the story goes that this is a 'Tiger' engine

Tiger did not drive on Diesel.
I checked with Spielbergers Tigerbook and it sure doesnt look like a tiger engine Smiley
I dont know what it is though.

Yeah it's not a Maybach unless it is post war, my guess is that it is a Isotta Fraschini model SS 46.3 litre Diesel...

As I understand it they made cars, trucks and buses so my guess would be bus but then it could be a special model as someone claimed it was an engine for a stationary pump.
