Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. Map 150 battle

In the mapdatabase at TACOPS HQ you can find map 150.
This is the area around the small village of Seedorf.
It is the area along the Aller river my former batalion( 41st armored infantrybatallion) "defended" during the cold war.
We were reponsible for a section about 4 km wide and 10 in depth.
Next in the line 47th armoredinfantrybatallion had its positions down to the south.
2 companies were lined up along the river with 1 in reserve.
1 company defended the line along the river in the city of Bad Bevensen, the other was positioned down south to klein bunstorf.
Fallback position for both units was about 1 km back to the west.
Final position or the stop-line was at Seedorf.

Map attached to topic.

The heavy mortars were situated in the Golsterholz woods.
The commandpost was at Gut Golste.

Main task for the frontline troops was to conduct delaying defensive actions.
The first line had to do as much damage to the attacking enemy as they could.
After that they would fall back to the second line refit and repeat the same orders.
At the third line reserve units were in position, the frontline units in the second line could than retreat.
The reserve units had to counterattack the remaining enemy units.
This sounds nice in theory but in practice we probably wouldnt have stand a chance against the Warschaupact forces opposite against us.
We had fixed fieldfortifcations and throughout the years spies had located the exact positions on maps for the artillery regiments.

In our area of operations the Russian second army was thought to be the first to attack in our sector in case of war.
They had:
21st mechanized infantry division
94th guards mechanized infantry division
207th infantry division
19th guards tank army.
However recently the batalion commander found out that in our sector the NVA and a Polish army were the direct opponents.
this could have been a big problem in case of war because all specialists and soldiers were trained to deal with russians.

If you want to start a two player battle agaisnt a human opponent its a good chance to operate with 80's era weapons.
Feel free to ask anything you like.
