Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. Formula 1 visits the most beautiful circuit in the world, 'Spa-Francorchamps' in Belgium

http://www.spa-francorchamps.be/en07/home/index.php

Quote
Since the early 1920s, the Spa-Francorchamps circuit has resounded with a thousand and one fabulous tales of those heroic times in which they drove on earth roads at the wheel of awesome machines.

Conceived by Liège aristocrats within a magic triangle between Francorchamps, Malmédy and Stavelot, its route through the magnificent scenery of the Ardennes has taken on a force of character that has stood the test of time.

Photo of the trackIn 1939 human imagination gave birth to a unique bend. Raidillon - Eau Rouge was to become famous throughout the world, the cynosure of every driver. As motor sport has evolved, the circuit has always been kept up to FIA requirements in terms of safety over the most prestigious competitions such as Formula 1 and Endurance Sportscar Racing. It has gone back to its roots with the Sports Prototypes. It is looking boldly toward the future and new formulae. At the crossroads of Europe, it is the driving force behind an entire economy and a perfect host site for any promotional activity.

the most famous turn in F1: the Raidillon, as you can see the drivers do NOT see the other side of the hill
the turn is so spectacular that only a very limited amount of drivers have the balls to take it flat...and nobody even thinks about of lying about it...
Schumacher was a flatter and also Villeneuve who did it with camera on-board...

the Raidillon seen on top of the hill!

the next video shows what happens when you loose downforce on top of the Raidillon, video from 1000km of Spa

and another one...flat on the Raidillon? CRAZY!

was an oilleak...nice fire at the end!

it was a nice race but I do miss the days where the old champions were very eager to win....most drivers now don't have that push...that kill-mentality...

but still...compared to those flat, modern PC-designed racetracks the Francorchamps track is always nice to watch!

At least 6 of those pics are *exceptionally great* from my (ex) professional POV.

One question: Does biertijd mean what I think it means (time for beer?)

...the sound and the engine stopping *truly* is disturbing.... like TWINGO´s in general...   hdbng

This sound, and this engine with it´s torque belongs into *this* car that I am just restoring, a 427 Shelby (hull *all* fiber! Smiley ; but: Not mine...  Onbeslist ). Have to learn yet to always get the strength to press the clutch, really, it´s a true bitch... hard to ride, major work involved, especially on those narrow Spanish roads Smiley

SRV8 Cobra427

From the outsie, looks something like this:

A little,... fun with my 427 Shelby Cobra.

OK, I will accept the latter as measure, the Super Merlin is *one* real PoA... (though: 12 cylinders), the rest:

Too modern for my liking...

true... I don't like them as modern as the SLR but the sound of that V-12 is enormous...

another 'soundengine' is the Audi 5 cilinder of the UR Quattro...

You don´t get it, the last *real* V8 cars were W100 (the 1st vid) and the W109 (which I owned, same technique as explained in the 1st vid, but not as charged with length and better for all day use, no good vids out there):

Mercedes-Benz Fascination W100 Type 600 Pullman Limousine Documentary (English)

Mercedes 6.3 at the race track

I advise you to spend 6k on the latter than 25 on the ones you showed (just seehow he eats the Mustang)

Huh? I did say that the Audi is a 5 cilinder and the SLR a 12 cilinder...

I was just referring to engine sounds....I thought that I do know something about cars.... Huh?

After writing an article about it´s qualities on another forum (http://hereandnowgroup-hang.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=chat&thread=87&page=2) I have convinced myself I am driving the wrong car: Buying an R4 (my third, this one is an "L" version with 1100cc, from 1975, 13 years older than my current vehicle from ´82: http://ohlmer.es/blog/234) on sunday, shot it for 500 Euros w/o even looking at it, with ITV and else... Smiley I still own the whole mechanics manuals volume (20 cm of How-Tos Smiley ) so I should not have any probs fixing little probs. Of cause, the final decision will be made looking at the thingy... Smiley
