Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. You night laugh or flinch at it, but one of my first comments when watching the attack (while the towers were still standing)  S11 with friends was:

"Here goes our freedom! Fasten Seat belts...!"

Another indication (of many) I was not too far off...

I'm not sure to which extend I find this creepy (but I do).

In one hand, I couldn't care less whether my government want waste their time mining my electronic traffic. This, especially if this means that it would make life more difficult for real bad guys like pedophiles, human traffickers and real terrorists. The problem is if this power doesn't come with full accountability of the uses for this information.

In the other hand, phone tapping everyone would be excessive...  However, phone access is easier to associate to a person than internet access.

I dealt with a womping 19,000 emails last year, excluding spam and mailing lists: I pity anyone (including myself) who have to deal with this.  hdbng

The problem is the governments always start off with the best of intentions and then end up using the new authority against the citizens.

Minority Report type preventative detention will be next.

My first response when reading this article is that it's fake.  No way to sort all of this data.  Really, no way.  I've also heard that there are many 'privacy' regulations in the EU and this would contradict some of them (is there a difference between the EU qua over-national organization/government and companies/corporations doing this type of thing?)
