I'm just a lightfoot in forum, just one previous experience, I'm an historical researcher, with some pals we dig for crashed aircraft of WW II here in Belgium. It is always very interesting and sometime we've got a very high reward, we share a lot of informations. For this while, I prepare with some friends an exposition about the liberation of our region in September '44. So, if anyone can help, I look forward for info about the 9th ID and the attached tank unit, and of course about the 2nd SS PzD who tried to impeach this liberation. It is about the country around Philippeville, in the south of Belgium, just before crossing the river Meuse. I thank you beforehand just hopin' not to disturb too much and may be help someone or receive some info. 2 Befehlspanthers mounted a counterattack when they were repaired and brought back to the unit, that might have been the attack on Phillipsville. I have re-read both: - Tiger Division "Das Reich" by Wolfgang Schneider - SS-Das Reich: The History of the Second SS Division 1939-45 by Gregory Louis Mattson And found nothing of any use. First and foremost you need to identify which of these is the unit that was in the area during September 44. Or if it was both of them. They are often confused with each other.
