Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. Take a real close look at the cluster of 2.75 rockets being fired from the F-100, one can see why us infantry didn't much care for that ordinance. When those Cobra's were firing from behind  (and only slightly higher than FSB Argonne) one can understand our anger at the "Jet Jockey's".

I tried to attach a blow up of the rocket cluster pic and attach it, but was unable to get the pic uploaded. (tech challenged I am)

FacMan, in this video you can see the wide impact of the cluster and indeed scary when you're in foxhole waiting for impact....

stumbled over a really interesting collection of pictures from the Vietnam war, organized and categorized in galleries, most of them commented:

http://www.vietnamgear.com/gallery.aspx

Some that caught my attention more than the others:

Quote
A Self Defense Corps irregular demonstrates the fire direction arrow at outpost Ly Van Manh.

Pointed in the direction of attacking forces, the arrow enabled pilots to quickly ascertain the direction of the enemy assault. In the event of a night attack, flaming cans were used to illuminate the arrow.

A member of the 101st Airborne on Operation Van Buren sets fire to a village hut containing Viet Cong rice stocks.

A Member of Company. L (Ranger), 75th Infantry, disembarks from a UH-1D helicopter during Operation Bushmaster.

Wearing an ERDL camouflage tropical combat uniform, the Ranger is armed with a CAR-15 (XM-177) rifle and uses 1-quart canteen covers to carry the magazines. He also wears a STABO harness.

A member of the 101st Airborne questions a Viet Cong suspect during operation Van Buren. The soldier has turned his Tropical Combat Jacket inside out to hide its full color insignia.

Though the Tropical Combat Uniform Board recommended the introduction of subdued insignia (black on olive drab) in November 1965, many US personnel were still wearing color insignia in late 1966.

While the Vietnam war is well out of my comfort zone I ran into this website on another forum and it has a lot of photographs I hadn't seen before...
