German 'schnellboot', looks like a torpedo boat with the launcher on the side near the front, on WWII postcard.

The caption says "Schnellboot in voller Fahrt" = "Speedboat at top speed", here what seems to be a similar type (?? Schnellboot 1937 Class: http://www.german-navy.de/kriegsmarine/ships/fastattack/schnellboot1937/index.html or a Schnellboot 1933 Class: http://www.german-navy.de/kriegsmarine/ships/fastattack/schnellboot1933/index.html) in a diorama:

The S-Boat is an example of how Germany was able to skirt the restrictions of the Versailles Treaty of 1919 through careful weapons engineering. In this case, they developed a boat that was small enough to be considered insignificant by the Allies and not regulated by the treaty. In effect, the Germans created a scaled down warship well-suited for naval Blitzkrieg. It was heavily armed and very fast, and could inflict great damage on a larger enemy and escape unharmed. Its sturdy design showed great foresight into its future operational role and emphasized quality over mass production.

In late July and early August 1945, future president and senator to be, John F. Kennedy visited defeated Germany with US Navy Secretary James Forestall. As a former PT boat captain, he was naturally interested in the German counterpart so he made a point of carefully inspecting an intact "E-Boat" at Bremen. Kennedy's diary records his conclusion: the Schnellboot was "far superior to our PT boat."

could you present the two signatures (by the artist, they seem the same, a "Gerd unreadable" - maybe "Überheß") a bit better defined and larger, just focussing on optimal quality?

Might be interesting to investigate the name, would probably lead to a lot more pics as he seems to have specialized in warship pics.

I found a few similar postcards of which some are by the same artist (but they only sold at around 10 Euros = $13, may was the double - 27 Euros):

see above (edited by now), cannot find the name, but there are loads of his pics out there, should not be too dificult to research, just do not have the time...

"Gerd Urbaheß" which I would read at first glance, makes no sense and cannot be found, which again does not make sense if there are literally hundreds of pics by him on the net.

here is a high-res scan of just the name; my first thought was 'Ferd.' for Ferdinand for the first name.  The last name starts "Urbasse?"/"Urbassn?" perhaps the last symbol is a double-consonant sound like 'ch' or 'sh' which uses one letter in this alphabet.  The back of the card says "Verlag: M. Dieterle & sohn, Keil" if the publisher helps you.

Oh, and meixner.de is a great auction for amazing things--have seen some Bauhaus Exhibition poster-style postcards go for 15,000 Euros(!)

google "Ferdinand Urbahns" and you will find he was a photojournalist in Germany; took pictures of famous people and this link, http://www.u-35.com/sources/ leads to a mention of him (at the bottom under [90] he is listed) but
 but I don't see any link to his stuff.  Is this the guy? has a book published in 2002; "re-published"? or a different guy?

[wow, interesting site for info on the U-35, if you're interested!]

Edit: here's another link, http://www.usmbooks.com/nazi_postcards_5.html showing postcards for sale; in lot #221 the photographer is listed as Ferdinand Urbahns.

Ferdinand Urbahns is definitely the name ("Ferd. Urbahns" is clearly readable from the high res scan), whether the photographer you mention is the same guy, cannot tell.
