US 240mm Howitzer

Postcard image of 240mm howitzer firing at Fort Bragg North Carolina. I can only assume that the crew has been removed from the image or the 'firing' has been added. We should be able to see some crew members during firing, right?
Note the crane with the shell ready in the lower right. This card was mailed from Fayetteville NC to Portland Oregon in February, 1945.

remember, it's only a postcard Brede lach

would they load the next shell when the gun still has to fire, wouldn't that be a bit dangerous?

Well, that's an option, too. I've just never heard of a gun which training states 'the crew shall step back 10 meters while firing'. Personally, I believe the flame and smoke were added to the image.

I don't think there's anything realistic at all to this 'drawing'

240mm, sure but the gun doesn't give me that impression
