Postcard image of 240mm howitzer firing at Fort Bragg North Carolina. I can only assume that the crew has been removed from the image or the 'firing' has been added. We should be able to see some crew members during firing, right? Note the crane with the shell ready in the lower right. I've just never heard of a gun which training states 'the crew shall step back 10 meters while firing'. Personally, I believe the flame and smoke were added to the image.
