Senegalese  Allied soldier, in the Vosges during WWII.  don't know how good snow is for that weapon; seems to be a staged shot.

Can anyone tell if that's an insignia on his helmet at the front, center, or just a smudge of snow?

the guy in the background at right may actually be semi-alert, ie. not staged.
