Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. Turn 8-9

Well going back on Turn 8 at the last second of the turn my one Sherman took a hit from a different SP GUN(?) and not the PzV... I noticed this on the start of turn 9... see image....   More to follow

TURN 8

Well no one noticed that I miss I dentified the SP GUN(?), it is really a PzV (must have been that great camo scheme)... I am disappointed that neither of my Shermans could make a hit on the PzV at 665 meters... There is mostly Arty Raining down on turn 8 and its cause some damage to one platoon of B Company (Mortar Disabled, Broken MG Team, 2 Broken Squads).  I am also running another Shoot and Scoot with my two Sherman on the ridge maybe this time they can get a hit on that PzV.... Rollende ogen

In the second shot I upped the scle of the troops so you can see the infantry...

TURN 7

Now that I have spotted a couple of those SP GUNS? I have two Shermans attached to B Company with Targets on what looks like a JpzIV (?) the Sherman on the left is 'hunting' forward up to the ridge and the below screenie is when he first makes contact. The JpzIV(?) commander is trying to cut his AFV around the corner of the woods and has given me a flank shot...  Come On Boyz do your thing..

After firing a total of 8 rounds during the turn not one hit has occured.  Kwaad  Elsewhere Arty is raining down on a platoon of Company B and two Shermans, one of Company A platoons on my far left flank has contacted German Infantry moving across the road and through the woods towards the first large Victory Flag..

Also a quick update on C Company and there attached tanks... As of Turn 6 these guys are making slow but sure progress through some rough terrain.... I am hoping to have a good surprise on the right flank for my second attack which I am hoping to start around turn 22 (+/-)  Smiley

Turn 6 - Lets start it up

At the start of this turn one of the Shermans attached to Company B crest's a small ridge line and 'hello' a shot goes ringing by... of course he is a 'Greenie' and though the gunner targets the SP GUN (?) the commander is back peddling quickly Rollende ogen  ...

Upon looking out over the contact area, Low and Behold I see the supposed SP GUN ... but wait 'What the hell is that hiding in the woods' AH Poop, I can see now that Koen has some torture in mind for me... BTW that mod does look good there....

\

Also on turn 6 two infantry Squads (one from A and one from B Company) open up on a Grenadier Squad about 250 meters out...  My lead M5 on the road has an area fire command on the AA Sound contact (from turn 4)... A secod Sherman attached to B Company spots the SP GUN and lays a crosshair on it...I also have two Shermans firing smoke to cover my advance in two diffenert locations... and a third Shermie is still pluging away at the Church as Arty rounds are starting to fall in the woods behind this Sherman and the M5 on the road (I think it is bigger then 81mm... ut oh).. I wish my M4(76W) on overwatch can get a line on that SP GUN but he is just a little to far to the left... I will set this unit to move up higher on the ridge but maintain a hulldown profile.

Turn 5

Ok.. Well the Air Strike did accomplish one thing... I got 'Gun' Sound contacts from (guess) AA guns shooting at the Fly-boyz (I hope they are all right, thats a lot of points if they got shot down... waa)
You can see these contact - they have a yellow shade over them...  I also opened up on the church with a tank attached to B Company ( I got a splash right at the end of turn 4 (a review shows this is the most likely area for a spotter... splash looked  like an 81mm but sounded like a 120mm... hmmmm)...  Also placed some area fire where one of the AA sound contacts were heard...  Two Squads of B Company are about to cross some open ground..  So I have halted them (there was a couple of small arm shots fired at them in turn 4)... I will have a Sherman pump some smoke to give them cover for next turn when they will sprint across the open field for about 80 meters...

TURN 4 - Surprise

Well on turn 4 I am still advancing when all of a sudden I hear my Fly-Boyz coming in low and hard... I am thinkin hit the enemy, hit the enemy and not me... And... waalaa... rockets go flying into the woods near the knocked out AA Vehcile...  Impressive sight...  Now I sit and ponder... Did they see something besides the AA Vehicle or did they blow their load on something already KIA... Also I have a few more sound contacts and some of A Company is firing at a grenadier squad...  On one of the Shermans attached to B Company I set some area fire on the closet contact to the NE...  tank

I just hope those Fly-Boyz are Veterans, cause if not and they return they could get my troops  Onbeslist

TURN 3 - First Contact - First Blood

Turns 1 and 2 all is going as planned as my troops are advancing to positions to perform their first attack.  On turn 3 first contact occurs: Company B receives fire from the woods NE of their position.  Also the attached Shermans to Company B receive fire from the North slightly left of the road. Both contacts result in 'sound contact' symbols. My M4(76W) in overwatch spots an AA vehicle along the wood line to the North... One Shot - One Kill  standsalute  Way to go Boyz....

More to come....

TURN 1

Setup is complete.... and movement commands are issued... I am using mostly 'move' and 'move to contact' cause I am not sure if this is a meeting engagement or attack/assault, I know it is not a defense... Ik zeg niets  I have placed a platoon from C Company embarked on some M4's and the same for a Platoon from B Company... My troops are excited about riding into battle... little do some squads know that the tanks they are riding on have 'Green' commanders (not looking forward to fire on them  Geschokt)

10  Wargaming / Scenarios: Playtesting / DAR-AAR: Koen January 2011 US vs AI on: 27 March 2011, 18:01:32
Ok... Koen asked me to playtest his scenario named Koen - January 2011 US vs AI, I have no idea what the name means... Geschokt

I am playing US vs AI (no experience, Extreme Fog of War, Scenario Defaults, Normal Balance)
Upon opening ... nice looking map... a quick view from ground level... and a look at the objectives (flags)... leads me to setup the following attck plan:

Since there is no briefing,  I am just going on my gut instinct to figure out my objective... (I look at this as my G2 officers are worthless salute)
I am also concerned about going into this attack without any artillery...  Would love to soften up a potential hot spots...

Another view of the attack plan:

Thank you

Actually I write words and music, and play keyboards, some guitar and background vocals...  Its not a band though, just a group of friends that get together in Virginia like once or twice a year for a week or so... I know the Singer is in a band, and the guy playing drums is too... The Washington DC area is big with the live music scene.  Plus we do all the recording and mixing in a home studio there...

Use to manage some bands back in 1988-92 in Virginia, they were pretty good, we would open for bands like 38 Special, Allman Brothers, Blue Oyster Cult, etc

still playing CM Rick?

Well I wasn't for a while as I was in rehab and getting sober... now 178 days later I have started a couple of battles and see how it goes... I have been spending a lot of time with the CM:SF editor, especially the Plans for the AI to see how the engine responds to things... BF informed me that 80-85% of the editor functionality is the same in CM:BN....

How you been... I sent you an e-mail from my new account...
