Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. If there's one thing I was happy about, it was those 4 classicos in a span of 18 days or something of that nature where Barca showed they are a better team than an expensively assembled squad that plays bad football.

He did not deserve this sort of thing.
But it shows you how Al Qaeda is a GLOBAL threat to everyone, not just the West and if we are losing to these guys in the hearts and minds front, we must be doing something very wrong.

I don't understand the whole "Raul is overrated" stuff.
You don't become  a record holder of goals by being a crap player.

That is some HILARIOUS stuff.
And congratulations to Barca.  If there are two football personalities I cannot stand it is Mourinho and Fake Ronaldo.  Now that they're both at Fake Madrid...

Another Spanish singer that made it big in Germany but was virtually an unknown in Spain:

Monica Capel Cruz who went by the stage name of Princessa.

PRINCESSA - All I Want (Alternative Version) [deleted 2005 single]

A song from her canceled album which was supposed to come out years ago.  Has since retired from singing it seems.

The connection:

The US and allies are fighting the good fight in Afghanistan.  How it's being fought is a different matter.
Guys like Wikileaks leaking the sort of information they did, the names of the informants, the places where they are, mission templates etc., hurts the war effort.
It is my hope that the US will finally learn how to fight insurgencies by modeling operations around principles learned in other successes (Malaya for instance).  But events like these certainly reduce the likelihood of that.  Just try getting someone to be an informant now.  And I certainly hope the ones who did help are safe.  Same with their relatives.

How would anyone here react if there was a wikileaks back in World War II and they leaked the plans for Operation Overlord just days before D-Day?  And what, no one cares about the people suffering under the Taliban's insanity.  But I'm sure most people here will jump in horror at anything involving Jews being killed in death camps.  Sure, they're kind of different, but I'd say cutting off the nose and the ears of a girl is pretty f*cking bad as well.  In some ways, worse than death.

Why Wikileaks can kiss my ass.

The biggest culprit in this leak is the US Army.
Their practices in securing important information is VERY poor it seems and it's a surprise it took so look for a major leak to happen.
CDRWs, a PFC with uncontrolled access to sensitive information, a troubled soldier not separated from sensitive information... this is a failure of leadership.

I can tell you without a shred of a doubt that this could not happen in my unit.
The Commanding Officer and the Senior NCO should be shot.

I played the US Marines version.
I did another mission with US Marines, same town.  Better results.
18  Wargaming / Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord - Barbarossa to Berlin - Afrika Korps - Battle for Normandy / Shock Force Demo - first impressions on: 26 July 2010, 22:24:39
Well, I am new to the series so I downloaded a demo to see what I thought.

Controls etc. seemed fair enough.
Did this one scenario where I had to secure three buildings of importance that were right along a major highway.
At my disposal were two Stryker MGSs along with a mix of Strykers armed with MK19 and 7.62mm support weapons.
I avoided the highway completely as this seemed to be a rather no sh*t IED trap with a row of buildings with roofs perfect for laying all kinds of hell down that road.
So the plan I went with was as follows:
Secure all the buildings in our immediate vicinity after using the MGSs to rip them open from our side.
I had the Strykers take up good positions for interlocking fire and put the infantry teams in the buildings at various levels.  So far so good.
I have the Stryker MGSs reposition to blow a hole in the wall that surrounds a market I am also supposed to secure.  BAM.  They get nailed by some RPG team that's on the other side of the map.  And this is while I have a rooftop positioned MG team suppress this RPG team which was pretty much out in the open.
Things start to look bad with the heavy guns out of action.
I manage to secure the market and move towards the second objective, a government building.  My men have taken good position in a building across the street from them and have an equally good, if not superior fighting position.  They get Pwned by the defending Syrians.
I realize that I no longer have the forces necessary to take the objectives. Bedroefd

So I load up the game as the enemy and to my surprise...
The highway was not defended.  No IEDs, no MG teams, nothing.  The enemy had in fact left gigantic gaping hole all around its flank.
Also, where my Strykers seemed helpless to take out the enemy, the AI's Strykers took out my better positioned RPG teams with ease.  My RPG teams couldn't take out anything at around 150m and was itself taken out a few seconds after firing the first shot.
Also, the AI behaved as if it had absolute full intel of the situation by immediately making use of the highway.  I knew immediately that two of three objectives would fall without much of a struggle.
I just quit the game.

So... for the guys who played the WWII version of this... any thoughts??

Both I suppose.
20  Wargaming / Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord - Barbarossa to Berlin - Afrika Korps - Battle for Normandy / Looks really good on: 26 July 2010, 17:51:02
This actually looks really good.
Is the infantry aspect of it good as well?  It looks very vehicle centered from what I see.
That is, can infantry effectively hide, infiltrate etc?
