Title: Books: A bridge too Far - Arnhem 1944 [Cornelius Ryan]
Post by: Koen on 8 November 2008, 09:21:04
Finally started reading the book itself after seeing the movie for about 100 times  :D

It's nice to compare the book and the movie.

Is it a good book? Ofcourse it is, I especially like the "small" texts at the pagebottoms.

Bought this one 2nd hand, as I do with most of my books.

Koen,
It is an excellent book, and I'd highly recommend it.  I was so pleased with the book and its details that I tried making some ASL scenarios based on the action around the bridge.  Of course they weren't very good, but the fun was in the research.  Hauptmann Gräbner's ill-fated charge across the bridge was captured well in the movie, but was terrifying to read about.  I'm glad you are reading the book.  There is so much in it that the movie was not able to include.

Finished it by now and I really enjoyed it.

It's easy to read, just the right amount of details...
